Comparison Study for the Phytochemical Constituents of two Curcuma Species by GC-MS Technique

نویسندگان

چکیده

Curcuma, a major Zingiberaceae genus, contains approximately 110 species throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The present work aimed to study two Indian curcuma species, Curcuma caesia Roxb. and angustifolia Roxb., whose rhizomes are extracted using ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) with chloroform solvent. extracts subjected phytochemical screening analysed employing gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) procedures. UAE studies of these species' as solvent have been conducted for first time. contain twenty-six thirty-two components, respectively. component highest area percentage in both was 2-cyclohexen-1-one, 4-ethynyl-4-hydroxy-3,5,5-trimethyl (2CEHT), cyclic unsaturated ketone having anticancer effects. GC-MS measurement data results provide an update on physiologically active phytoconstituents detected rhizome extracts, which may be used standardise crude plant understand chemical composition medicinal potential.
